Suspect Sought in First State Bank Robbery

On August 23, 2012, at about 7:25 am, Temple Police responded to the scene of a robbery at First State Bank, 1150 Canyon Creek Drive. Officers responded to a panic alarm at 7:25 am, and shortly thereafter it was called in as a robbery just occurred. The clerk, an adult female, who was not injured.
The clerk advised officers that an unknown black male armed with a handgun approached her as she entered the building, and demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect then fled in an unknown direction, taking the victim’s personal car to do so. Officers located the victim’s car abandoned in a nearby neighborhood to the south of the bank, at about 7:50 am. A thorough search of the area, including a Police K-9 search, did not locate the suspect.
Investigators from Temple Police Department and the FBI remained at the scene at the bank gathering evidence until about 10:45 am. The suspect has not been located.
